Antique Silver Plate & Cabochon Brooch (11706)
This beautiful silver brooch has a Trombone clasp, also sometimes referenced as push-pull safety clasps. They were used on European jewelry beginning in the 1890s. Most are seen on French pieces or jewelry made elsewhere, like in Czechoslovakia, and imported into France. They were widely used on pieces made through to the 1940's.
The detail of this piece is fantastic. Tiny hand-hammered dents cover the spiral eye, with a faux Cabochon Carnelian, at its centre. In lovely condition.
Measures 45 mm wide x 25 mm deep x 10mm high.
