Early-1900's Aquatint/Etching by L. Davril, France (9360)
Early-1900's original, collectible, signed, coloured aquatint/etching by "L. Davril" (Lucien d'Asselborne 1873-1952) of the Thielt Le Beefroi (the Belfrey of Thielt), France.
Lucien d'Asselborne was born in Louvroil, France, and noted for his work in watercolor as well as oil. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais (receiving an Honorable Mention in 1922, at the Salon de la Societe Nationale, and in 1931, at the Salon d’Automne, L. Davril “La Petite Épicerie”.
Condition: the aquatint is in good condition. The frame has not been opened and the mat is showing fixing around its outer edges. **The framer has typed "T. Davril" on the mat - which is incorrect; should have been L. Davril.** The thin wooden original frame has a nice, aged patina. and is still holding the glass well. The etching has been sealed into the frame - and some of the seal has deteriorate (see photo).
Overall very good condition for its age. Highly collectible! It measures 366mm wide x 467mm high x 10mm deep.
